A very young singer with a distinctive voice
Jules was working with songwriter Engelina Andrina on a set of reggae- and dancehall-inspired songs. They needed the right young woman to sing them, and Cisilia was suggested through their network.
She was still in her mid-teens, but her voice already sounded assured, distinctive and far more developed than her age suggested.
A small team builds the project at speed
Engelina played a central role in the songwriting and Cisilia's visual identity. Jules worked on production, project development and the practical and business framework. Thomas Stengaard was another important producer on the debut album.
The first phase was highly focused. A small team worked closely together to develop the sound, repertoire, identity and overall structure.
Then everything happened very quickly
Unge Øjne reached number one. Vi To Datid Nu was certified double platinum, and at the 2015 Danish Music Awards, Cisilia won both Danish Hit of the Year for Vi To Datid Nu and Danish Newcomer of the Year.
She was the youngest winner ever at the Danish Music Awards. The project went from an idea to a national breakthrough in an unusually short time.
When the process changed
The first phase relied on a clear division of responsibilities and a tightly managed creative setup. After the breakthrough, Cisilia wanted greater influence over the process.
From Jules's perspective, the project no longer worked in the same way once the original direction and division of roles changed. The team therefore decided to end the project in that form. Jules moved to the United States shortly afterwards.
